Who We Are
Velara Maldives Pty Ltd (ABN 36 696 331 861) operates Velara Maldives (this website) as a curated travel concierge for the Maldives. In this policy "Velara", "we", "us" or "our" refers to Velara Maldives Pty Ltd.
Our registered contact is hello@velaramaldives.com. Any privacy-related question, request or complaint should go there.
What We Collect
When you submit an enquiry, sign up for our newsletter, or contact us by email or WhatsApp, we collect the personal information you choose to provide. Typically this includes your name, email address, contact number, preferred contact method, travel preferences (dates, party, budget, trip type), and any notes you leave for the team.
We also collect a minimal amount of technical information automatically when you use this website: page paths visited, approximate location (country level), referring source, and device type. We use this only to understand how the site is being used and to improve it.
We do not run advertising trackers, third-party analytics that profile individuals, or surveillance pixels. We do not buy lists.
How We Use It
We use the information you give us for one purpose: to plan your trip. That includes responding to your enquiry, building a curated shortlist, requesting rates from the resorts on your shortlist, booking your stay and travel arrangements, and supporting you while you travel.
If you have signed up for the Velara Club newsletter, we use your email to send periodic, on-topic updates about Maldives travel: seasonal intelligence, exclusive rates, resort openings. Every email has a one-click unsubscribe link, and unsubscribing does not affect any active enquiry.
We do not use your information for marketing unless you have asked to receive it. We do not profile individual visitors. We do not sell, rent or trade personal information under any circumstance.
Retention
We keep your enquiry information for as long as the relationship is active, plus a reasonable period afterwards in case you return to us for repeat travel.
Booking records (invoices, supplier confirmations, payment receipts) are retained for at least seven years after the trip, in line with Australian tax and consumer law obligations.
You can ask for your information to be deleted at any time, subject to those legal retention requirements. We will confirm what has been deleted and what we are required to keep.
Your Rights
You can ask us to: confirm what personal information we hold about you; provide a copy of it; correct anything that is inaccurate; delete it (where permitted by law); or stop using it for a particular purpose.
Email hello@velaramaldives.com with the request. We aim to respond within 30 days. There is no fee.
If you believe we have mishandled your information and we have not resolved it to your satisfaction, you have the right to complain to the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner (OAIC). EU/UK residents have equivalent rights under GDPR and may complain to their local supervisory authority.
